List of pre-Columbian cultures. Which were?

List of pre-Columbian cultures. Which were?

By definition, Pre-Columbian cultures are those that were in America before the Spanish conquest, settling in these lands since several millennia before Christ.

These cultures, as happened with others throughout the planet, were subdivided according to the degree of development and thus we find the so-called high cultures, which arose mainly in Mesoamerica and the Andes, highlighting among them the three great cultures: Incas, Mayas and Aztecs.

But they were not the only ones, but within them we find the Anasazi, Mississippian, Mexica, Toltec, Teotihuacan, Zapotec, Olmeca, Muisca, Cañaris, Moche, Nazca, Chimú and Tiahuanaco cultures.

In the case of North AmericaSome cultures also stood out such as the Yaquis, Seris, Apaches, Mohicans, Navajos, Cheyennes, Algonquins, Eskimos and Siouxs, among others.

All pre-Columbian cultures that reached a high degree of development have several elements in common, although one stands out above the others: the construction of temples and religious monuments.

Notable among them are those found in the archaeological sites of Caral, Chavín, Moche, Pachacámac, Tiahuanaco, Cuzco, Machu Picchu and Nazca, in the Central Andes area; and in the case of Mesoamerica, Teotihuacán, Tajín, Palenque, Tulum, Tikal, Chichén-Itzá and Monte Alban.

However, these were not the only ones to be found in America. Here we share with you a list of pre-Columbian cultures (which will be expanded over time), where we find:

After studying History at the University and after many previous tests, Red Historia was born, a project that emerged as a means of dissemination where you can find the most important news of archeology, history and humanities, as well as articles of interest, curiosities and much more. In short, a meeting point for everyone where they can share information and continue learning.
